The TRU Board of Governors voted to ratify the recommendations put forth by mediator Mark Brown, one of the final steps towards ending a long labour dispute with the TRU Faculty Association.
TRUFA voted to ratify the agreement on Friday, Feb. 12, with a vote 91 per cent in favour. According to a statement from the association’s president Tom Friedman shortly after the vote figures were released, faculty “very reluctantly” approved the deal.
The faculty association’s collective agreement expired in March 2014. This round of negotiations had been on since February 2015.
Full details of the agreement have not yet been made public, but it will cover a five-year period from April 2014 through March 2019, a period considerably longer than the last agreement, which covered from April 2012 to March 2014.
