The TRU Faculty Association has entered into mediation with TRU, hoping to resolve the ongoing labour dispute between them.
On Friday, TRUFA staged a rally in support of its position while the university scheduled a press conference for itself just a half hour later. Both sides remain far apart at this time.
One thing the two parties did manage to agree on early into mediation was that a media blackout would be in effect, including updates to their respective bargaining websites and social media.
TRUFA took job action in the form of “work-to-rule,” on Thursday, Jan. 14, when they cut off communication with TRU administrators. Students were not impacted.
Meanwhile, both parties began trying to win people over with media of their own. TRU erected three electronic billboards stationed around campus pointing people to their version of the facts on their website. Along with its rally, TRUFA gave away cupcakes and handed out flyers stating their version of the facts.
More to come.
